Interesting. I believe this distinction can work by challenging ones interpretations. But we can’t just rely on what is objectively seen as this is not one’s reality and what is reality outside an individual??
That’s the point. There only is one objective reality and many individual occurrings, one for each person. The meaning you give something is not what actually happened, and you think it is. That’s the problem. We need to deal with what happened, not with what we made up about what happened.
You got fired. That’s a fact. It’s a disaster is your occurring. You need to deal with getting a new job, not with “it’s a disaster.”
But Morty reality has no meaning outside somebody’s interpretation… If we concentrate only on facts it is like having a limited version of reality- only physical objective reality it is like the old paradigm of science limited. How can this help us??
This is a great and timely product as it highlights the extent to which Occuring (especially negative) thoughts control our lives and goes on to offer a solution. The only difficulty I find is: having more than one negative words in one sentence makes it hard to understand or make sense of critical points and perhaps should be restated in more positive terms. For example ” Frank realised that it was true that he had given a speech and missed a quote. He can’t see that isn’t wasn’t any good or that people are just saying nice things and don’t mean them”
Morty-What about the fears and hurt feelings that come due to a hurt ego or hurt self-pride for example rejection or public humiliation or a failure after repeated attempts. Such feelings tend to a ‘charge’ of mental pain that is very difficult to shift immediately no matter what one tries.
Rejection or failure does not cause fear or hurt feelings. The meaning we give those events, our occurrings, cause the feelings.

What’s occurring for us is only a replay of our old past ‘stories’ and experiences which we then project into the present to give the event the meaning it has for us – and even project them into the future to predict how events will occur to us – what madness! I am now learning to live more in the present moment and to joyfully accept ‘what is’ and see the blessing in everything that happens. Great simple and easy to understand information. Thank you Morty. I strive to live in my reality each day without what I term mind reads or hallucinations, however, I happen to be surrounded by others who constantly live in their occurrings – sharing this video with them will I’m sure bring them into their reality and help make all our days sweeter as a result.
Though this make sense, but what about office situations where we see someone else favored just because they agree to everything what boss feels right. Later when it comes to salary raise or promotion the other one who agreed on everything what boss said, gets a raise or a promotion.
For this situation though we will not associate any meaning whatever, we see it as a happening. However, the fact remains fact that you did not get a salary raise or a promotion. You did not assign any meaning but you were deprived of some extra dollars which you could have gotten otherwise. So the question boils down to what can you do, so that you don’t have to agree to everything what your boss says ( sometimes what does not make sense, something like, we can lie this time to gain a business deal) and still don’t have to be concerned about your financial needs?
It is important to distinguish between your occurring and taking action. You have to figure out what to do to get a raise, based on the reality that you didn’t get one.
Thant has nothing to do with any meaning you give not giving a raise, which will cause an upset and might even make it difficult to figure out what action to take.
This approach really does work but it is easy for me to forget what I’ve learned and go right back into my old way of thinking. It is important for me to stay on track . Our reality is created inside of our experience and this approach allows me to change the way reality occurs . Very helpful Morty.
In the Lefkoe Occurring Course participants practice using the four different techniques almost 1,000 times, after which it becomes automatic and natural. In fact, in most cases you don’t even create an occurring that needs to be dissolved.

I can appreciate your skepticism, but it has worked with me and 80 others on issues that have been going on for a lifetime.
Remember, however, an occurring is the meaning you are giving a current event. Each occurring is new, even if you have had similar occurring for similar events for many years..
The video is great and further emphasizes that the meaning we give to events is what drives our feelings and behaviors. Great tool and technique to help deal with day to day occurences.
I have been trying this out today and its been working great a lot of the time, there was a time when it did’nt work though, when a situation “seems” to cause a negative emotion without an occurring. For example when i see an attractive women, i feel anxiety by just looking at her, without the occurring of she will reject me as i have eliminated those beliefs with your natural confidence course. I have meditated for many years and am always aware of my internal dialogue, and when i see attractive women i feel a resistance to approaching, yet there is no occurring happening.
Can this also be used to desolve anxiety assosiated just with visual stimulation? Where there are only the event and the emotion and no self talk?
I have been conciously using the technique described in the video around every 15 minutes for the past 2 days now and i have experienced two main points.
One is how quickly i can actually desolve the meaning that accompanies either what is happening then and there in the moment, or the meaning i apply to a visual memory, which drains it of all emotion, leaving me back in the present moment.
Two is i have realised how much i misinterpret events in my subjective reality. Normally, for example, whenever i speak to my mother, i feel a general sence of annoyance, she always talks about her own interests and rarly takes interest in what is going on im my life. I actually thought i could see that in her behaviour and by what she sais, but that is the occurring, when i caught myself thinking this in the moment, i did the process quickly, and i suddenly felt calm, and just listed to her words and replied, sounds small, but was a big breakthrough, can’t wait to use this more in my life, cheers for giving this away man.
Its a fun and powerful exercise you have shared! What is occurring and the meaning or story given to the events .I also know from practicing a similar process that it does get easier and then the more core occurrences that are not seen at first or are not challenged because we believe this is who we are and what reality or the truth is begin to be seen for what they are as the meanings and stories and attached feelings drop away. There are similarities here with the 4 step process used by the spiritual teacher Byron Katie .
Did you try using the technique for a day? What was your experience?
People who use this technique and several others for 10 weeks in my course discover that at some point they just stop even having occurrings most of the time. The rest of the time they dissolve them in just a couple of minutes.
Taking the one hour or so challenge will be enlightening. Just were will the mind wander. I have been coming up with “stories” as to why I shouldn’t call potential clients. Yup, I have been sabbatoging myself. I have become quite good at setting myself up for failure. Well, it is time to change.
Fantastic method. I tried it instantly and felt myself separate from the anxiety I had made up and the situation at hand. I really LOVED using the technique of imagining what others would say about the same situation. What they would SEE happening. I am going to set my alarm to look at this on an hourly basis. I can’t wait to dissolve more!

that was a very valuable addition to the natural confidence program that I am working with right now. It helped me realize that I am actually reconfirming the same beliefs that I eliminate with your natural confidence program right back into me. I have been unemployed for several years now and I keep falling into very negative feelings about this as I constantly have been giving meaning to the situation like ” I am not good enough”, “I am not important”, “I am not capable”, “I am a failure” you name it. Yesterday I caught myself doing this and was able to stop it with your process. While the situation is still the same, I am not suffering any more, I feel very relaxed and I also feel that now I have actually the energy to do something about it. I watched myself all day, as you suggested, and I was also able to avoid a situation with my daughter. She is at teen-age and gets often annoyed with me and so far I always went into this loop “I am not good enough as a mother”, “I have made a mistake in my parenting which is bad”, “Nothing I do is good enough” etc. Yesterday I was able to keep all the meaning out of the “event” and we ended up having a great cooperation while I helped her finish a difficult home work. I realized that she actually gets annoyed because of the meaning I give to events, because, when I put myself down, she feels guilty. Thanks so much for this clarification process!

At some point we would like to translate our free beliefs and Natural Confidence program into different languages. We’ve had people offer to translate into 4-5 languages so far. The problem is that after we get it translated we have no way to market the programs in the new languages and countries.

I love this technique and used it immediately with wonderful results. Sitting down and thinking about it, I realized how incredibly often I use occurring to my detriment, when in fact the reality was nothing like my “mind freak”. Some of my responses to reality are so conditioned that it takes a determination to catch them before they run away with me. I think this technique will be very handy, along with the use of the alarm to regularly check in with my thoughts. Thank you as always!
Yesterday I set my cellphone’s alarm to go off every 3 hours, and I have since successfully dissolved several occurrings. As an example, right after watching the video I realized I was anxious, and the occurring I was having was “I should be doing something productive with my life right now” (I’m unemployed and I will likely be suspended from college for next semester ). I like how this technique makes me feel instantly calm. I want to see the next video already.
I never thought about what caused my occuring negative feelings….never… I just let the occuring take place……thinking that the way it is……no more it happened almost instanly…….once your words unlocked that door …..a sense of well being came over me……yes Morty you had the key to that “dam” locked door of occuring feelings……I can not thank you enough……God Bless you for having the courage, bring the keys to many lock doors in people’s life!
As valuable as an understanding is, it is even more valuable to use the technique on a regular basis to dissolve your occurrings. Try it for a full day and let me know your experience.

In the Occurring Course people learn to dissolve their occurrings so easily and naturally that it gets easier even with emotionally changed occurrings. They can be more difficult in the beginning.
Tried it for a few days. It seemed to be partialy effective for me. In some cases I could detach myself from the meaning I had given an event. On others it seemed that no matter how hard I try there’s still a negative meaning, it might have lessened but wasn’t totally eliminated. For instance, my boss criticised something I did wrong today, and while he was talking I used this process. Although it did make a difference, on the core level I still felt some kind of criticism and rejection. Perhaps my limiting beleifs and contioning got into action. In addition, I think I’m more of a kinethstetic person, so understading I can’t see any meaning could work sometimes, but in emotionally intense incidents it wasn’t enough. Are there any techniques better suited for kinethstetic people?
The feeling of my overall well being in the last couple of days was increased, maybe it’s just a coincidence but i’d like to belive it isn’t.
For very brief periods of time(a matter of seconds) when I truly internalised nothing has any meaning and that the world outside, my mind, and my feelings are totally seperate things, I had this great sense of calmness and well being.
I’m turning 22 soon, and plan to pursue a career as a musician. I beleive it would make my life so much easier in so many aspects, especially in terms of performing and exposing myself.
I’d love to get a scholarship for the occuring course, it would be the best birthday present ever
One thing I forgot to mention is that usually after my boss criticises me for something, I get angry or upset for the following half an hour. This time, even though I couldn’t dissolve the occuring on the spot, I forgot about the whole thing after 3 minutes.
Timely! An hour ago (today is April , I came home and asked my wife if my haircut looked ok. Ten minutes later we were arguing about flowershops, and twenty minutes after that I was refusing to answer a question about cheese! All this was due to my responses to an occurring. I’ll do the two day test from today and let you know the results.
Thanks Morty it is a very good, clear and precise video, teaching us simple and powerful techniques; that allow us to realize how easy can be to live in peace and to joyfully, helping us to see reality or facts as “it is”; focusing on what really happen, not in the meaning we gave to the fact, that appear to be real and causing us to fell depress or anxiety. This is a cool technique and I used it every hour today as I could. It worked really well for two particular situations. One was when I was playing baseball and kept dropping easy catches, I kept worrying that people were thinking badly of me because of my skill. I stepped back and noticed what meaning I GAVE the event and realized that it was just a dropped pass, so what. The feelings started to fade away.
Another big change was when I was texting my girlfriend and the meaning I gave something she said in our conversation. I had only given it this meaning because it was something my ex used to say, and realized that my occuring was causing the feeling. All that happened was she said something that happened to be similar to someone of my past, there’s no meaning in that event on our relationship.
It’s cool how simple this process is and how it should almost be common sense for everyone but no one treats events in their life like this, they keep thinking they see the meaning IN the events.
I am a student at University in Ontario Canada and I love the lefkoe method, I’ve gone through the NC course and it has helped but I’m still working on some of the beliefs. I would really love to win this scholarship as it would be so nice to release emotions without having to use my schooling money to pay for it.

I have read a lot of personal growth books and have attended many personal growth/ transformational workshops over the years. The results of these have had an incredible impact on my life, yet I still have fears (occurrings). I recognize how much more abundant my life could be if I were not concerned with the opinions of others (how their reactions occur). With all the work I have done on myself over the years and still having these fears, my skepticism asks “is it really possible to live a life without fear ?”.
Most of the people who first come in contact with our work arrive with skepticism. Unfortunately a lot of the personal growth courses promise more than they deliver.

OK, I set an alarm during the course of the day and gave it a try and it’s pretty interesting. I find it works best to dissolve the conflicts I have with other people during the course of the day. Other people passing my on the highway always bothered me. Now I realize it’s not their passing me that causes my issue, it’s the meaning I gave to it–someone’s doing better than me, has no regard for me, etc. But the event clearly has no meaning, it’s just a car went past me. That’s it. No meaning, no issue. It was all in my head. The most difficulty I have is in trying to “dissolve” my upsets over reading the news and then afterwards thinking about what I read. I’m trying to think about the issues objectively. I realize that I can’t “see” most of what is going on–like the budget arguments in the US Congress. I’ve been able to eliminate a lot of the meaning, and subsequent feelings but not all. There seem to be some meanings I’m giving the events that I have trouble identifying. Also, I keep having to do it over again. Also, I have trouble using it to dissolve things, issues, events in my past that I keep thinking about; it works to some extent, but not completely. Today at lunch I was eating an apple daydreaming about my ex-boyfriend, thinking “I miss him. Does he miss me? Does he think about me? The feelings resulting from this were sadness and anxiety. When I realized the the actual event in reality was simply me eating an apple, my occurring did indeed melt away away! Thank you!
Hi Morty/Zephyr – Please forgive my boldness and do not wish to offend but rather learn, I would have said the actual event is the fact that the ex-boyfriend is not longer around. Given that the same thoughts may still occur while cooking or walking etc. and not just while eating an apple?

This is another great way to become aware of how our ego can instill fear within us and create ‘meaningless meaning’ to the events occurring in our lives, causing us to lose focus in our important priorities in life. Great stuff.
I think that this video was truly insightful. The break down of the occurring technique is simple and clear. I’m a victim of the occurring myself; I have these great stories that I want to write but I tend to find myself in a jumble with my inner critic and I start to think like the writer in the video, that “no one one will ever like my story” but with the occurring dissolve technique that you just mentioned, gives me the break through I need to continue on writing and erase the critic inside me. I think that the video could have been better however, If it stuck with one theme, per say a illustrations and pop up words. With that I think would grab my attention and drag more focus from me to understand the material quicker.

For this situation though we will not associate any meaning whatever, we see it as a happening. However, the fact remains fact that you did not get a salary raise or a promotion. You did not assign any meaning but you were deprived of some extra dollars which you could have gotten otherwise. So the question boils down to what can you do, so that you don’t have to agree to everything what your boss says ( sometimes what does not make sense, something like, we can lie this time to gain a business deal) and still don’t have to be concerned about your financial needs?

It is important to distinguish between your occurring and taking action. You have to figure out what to do to get a raise, based on the reality that you didn’t get one.
Thant has nothing to do with any meaning you give not giving a raise, which will cause an upset and might even make it difficult to figure out what action to take.

In the Lefkoe Occurring Course participants practice using the four different techniques almost 1,000 times, after which it becomes automatic and natural. In fact, in most cases you don’t even create an occurring that needs to be dissolved.

I have been trying this out today and its been working great a lot of the time, there was a time when it did’nt work though, when a situation “seems” to cause a negative emotion without an occurring. For example when i see an attractive women, i feel anxiety by just looking at her, without the occurring of she will reject me as i have eliminated those beliefs with your natural confidence course. I have meditated for many years and am always aware of my internal dialogue, and when i see attractive women i feel a resistance to approaching, yet there is no occurring happening.
Can this also be used to desolve anxiety assosiated just with visual stimulation? Where there are only the event and the emotion and no self talk?

I have been conciously using the technique described in the video around every 15 minutes for the past 2 days now and i have experienced two main points.
One is how quickly i can actually desolve the meaning that accompanies either what is happening then and there in the moment, or the meaning i apply to a visual memory, which drains it of all emotion, leaving me back in the present moment.
Two is i have realised how much i misinterpret events in my subjective reality. Normally, for example, whenever i speak to my mother, i feel a general sence of annoyance, she always talks about her own interests and rarly takes interest in what is going on im my life. I actually thought i could see that in her behaviour and by what she sais, but that is the occurring, when i caught myself thinking this in the moment, i did the process quickly, and i suddenly felt calm, and just listed to her words and replied, sounds small, but was a big breakthrough, can’t wait to use this more in my life, cheers for giving this away man.

What is occurring and the meaning or story given to the events .I also know from practicing a similar process that it does get easier and then the more core occurrences that are not seen at first or are not challenged because we believe this is who we are and what reality or the truth is begin to be seen for what they are as the meanings and stories and attached feelings drop away. There are similarities here with the 4 step process used by the spiritual teacher Byron Katie .

It has been amazing. The full day was harder than I thought. I didn’t catch everything right as it came but I did pause quite a few times and separated them into the 3 categories and the impact was instant. I have been sharing the method with others as well which has almost installed it in my mind as the first thing I turn to when I feel something askew. Hello Morty,
that was a very valuable addition to the natural confidence program that I am working with right now. It helped me realize that I am actually reconfirming the same beliefs that I eliminate with your natural confidence program right back into me. I have been unemployed for several years now and I keep falling into very negative feelings about this as I constantly have been giving meaning to the situation like ” I am not good enough”, “I am not important”, “I am not capable”, “I am a failure” you name it. Yesterday I caught myself doing this and was able to stop it with your process. While the situation is still the same, I am not suffering any more, I feel very relaxed and I also feel that now I have actually the energy to do something about it. I watched myself all day, as you suggested, and I was also able to avoid a situation with my daughter. She is at teen-age and gets often annoyed with me and so far I always went into this loop “I am not good enough as a mother”, “I have made a mistake in my parenting which is bad”, “Nothing I do is good enough” etc. Yesterday I was able to keep all the meaning out of the “event” and we ended up having a great cooperation while I helped her finish a difficult home work. I realized that she actually gets annoyed because of the meaning I give to events, because, when I put myself down, she feels guilty. Thanks so much for this clarification process!

Sitting down and thinking about it, I realized how incredibly often I use occurring to my detriment, when in fact the reality was nothing like my “mind freak”. Some of my responses to reality are so conditioned that it takes a determination to catch them before they run away with me. Yesterday I set my cellphone’s alarm to go off every 3 hours, and I have since successfully dissolved several occurrings. As an example, right after watching the video I realized I was anxious, and the occurring I was having was “I should be doing something productive with my life right now” (I’m unemployed and I will likely be suspended from college for next semester ). I like how this technique makes me feel instantly calm. I want to see the next video already.

Tried it for a few days. It seemed to be partialy effective for me. In some cases I could detach myself from the meaning I had given an event. On others it seemed that no matter how hard I try there’s still a negative meaning, it might have lessened but wasn’t totally eliminated. For instance, my boss criticised something I did wrong today, and while he was talking I used this process. Although it did make a difference, on the core level I still felt some kind of criticism and rejection. Perhaps my limiting beleifs and contioning got into action. In addition, I think I’m more of a kinethstetic person, so understading I can’t see any meaning could work sometimes, but in emotionally intense incidents it wasn’t enough. Are there any techniques better suited for kinethstetic people?
The feeling of my overall well being in the last couple of days was increased, maybe it’s just a coincidence but i’d like to belive it isn’t.
For very brief periods of time(a matter of seconds) when I truly internalised nothing has any meaning and that the world outside, my mind, and my feelings are totally seperate things, I had this great sense of calmness and well being.
I’m turning 22 soon, and plan to pursue a career as a musician. I beleive it would make my life so much easier in so many aspects, especially in terms of performing and exposing myself.
I’d love to get a scholarship for the occuring course, it would be the best birthday present ever

One thing I forgot to mention is that usually after my boss criticises me for something, I get angry or upset for the following half an hour. This time, even though I couldn’t dissolve the occuring on the spot, I forgot about the whole thing after 3 minutes.

, I came home and asked my wife if my haircut looked ok. Ten minutes later we were arguing about flowershops, and twenty minutes after that I was refusing to answer a question about cheese! Hey Morty,
This is a cool technique and I used it every hour today as I could. It worked really well for two particular situations. One was when I was playing baseball and kept dropping easy catches, I kept worrying that people were thinking badly of me because of my skill. I stepped back and noticed what meaning I GAVE the event and realized that it was just a dropped pass, so what. The feelings started to fade away.
Another big change was when I was texting my girlfriend and the meaning I gave something she said in our conversation. I had only given it this meaning because it was something my ex used to say, and realized that my occuring was causing the feeling. All that happened was she said something that happened to be similar to someone of my past, there’s no meaning in that event on our relationship.
It’s cool how simple this process is and how it should almost be common sense for everyone but no one treats events in their life like this, they keep thinking they see the meaning IN the events.
I am a student at University in Ontario Canada and I love the lefkoe method, I’ve gone through the NC course and it has helped but I’m still working on some of the beliefs. I would really love to win this scholarship as it would be so nice to release emotions without having to use my schooling money to pay for it.

The results of these have had an incredible impact on my life, yet I still have fears (occurrings). I recognize how much more abundant my life could be if I were not concerned with the opinions of others (how their reactions occur). OK, I set an alarm during the course of the day and gave it a try and it’s pretty interesting. I find it works best to dissolve the conflicts I have with other people during the course of the day. Other people passing my on the highway always bothered me. Now I realize it’s not their passing me that causes my issue, it’s the meaning I gave to it–someone’s doing better than me, has no regard for me, etc. But the event clearly has no meaning, it’s just a car went past me. That’s it. No meaning, no issue. It was all in my head. The most difficulty I have is in trying to “dissolve” my upsets over reading the news and then afterwards thinking about what I read. I’m trying to think about the issues objectively. I realize that I can’t “see” most of what is going on–like the budget arguments in the US Congress. I’ve been able to eliminate a lot of the meaning, and subsequent feelings but not all. There seem to be some meanings I’m giving the events that I have trouble identifying. Also, I keep having to do it over again. Also, I have trouble using it to dissolve things, issues, events in my past that I keep thinking about; it works to some extent, but not completely. This is another great way to become aware of how our ego can instill fear within us and create ‘meaningless meaning’ to the events occurring in our lives, causing us to lose focus in our important priorities in life. Great stuff.
I think that this video was truly insightful. The break down of the occurring technique is simple and clear. I’m a victim of the occurring myself; I have these great stories that I want to write but I tend to find myself in a jumble with my inner critic and I start to think like the writer in the video, that “no one one will ever like my story” but with the occurring dissolve technique that you just mentioned, gives me the break through I need to continue on writing and erase the critic inside me. I think that the video could have been better however, If it stuck with one theme, per say a illustrations and pop up words. With that I think would grab my attention and drag more focus from me to understand the material quicker.
